musical difficulty??

I would absolutely LOVE to do this show with my school the problem is out talent pool..I am a great singer/musician and we have a few other good ones..but I don't think we have enough to pull off a show like Into The Woods..where almost every character needs a great voice and pretty close to perfect pitch..I was just wondering if this is possible..we also have some good musicians but I'm not sure how many of them are stiching around..a lot are seniors..it's just that my school is TINY..so any help/comments would be great..it is one of my dream shows..and I would absolutley love to play the Baker's Wife or even Cinderella..there are so many good parts!

It's pretty hard music. Lots of work would have to go into it for a HS to do it.
pssh

you also have to have talent musicians in the pit..playing the music is as hard as singing it

I agree with the above posts, but I want to mention something. Your school is tiny? Mine has less than 600 k-12, with about 35 in the cast and we pulled it off. ITW is small cast for such a big show, and a lot of parts can be doubled so the size of your school shouldn't be an issue too much. I would advise not doing the show if your school is incapable of pulling it off, because it would be unfair to everyone to do a show no one can sing. My advice is to suggest it to the director, look up and find out how other schools with similar bugets did it and see if he'll consider. After all there's no use worrying if you have the talent to do if your director won't do it anyways.

And if your school's not doing it, check out local theatres. I agree, Into the Woods is a fantastic show, but difficult.

You can pull the show off with putting a full 35 people into that cast? I thought there were less than that.

Dont worry Audreydarling. I have almost the same problem. When our seniors just graduated, we lost some of the best and most devoted actors and actresses of our time. It sucked. Now we have less and we have to pull of next years show. Very nervous. I want to do into the woods too, but my director at school won't let us.... Crying or Very sad

my school has abot 300 people..it's just that there isn't much of a talent pool..we have two people one girl and one guy that have had experience..me and a guy a year older than me..others have good natural talent but not enough training..I don't think we could do it..though the director and I would like too (actually the director wants to do Sweeny Todd..but there's no WAY we could pull that off)..but thanks for your encouragement..who knows..we may have the talent..it just might not be the most amazing production ever!

Shocked Mine could never in a million years get permission to do it. It totally sucks!
