Music Man

We open this week. I am doing dances, and in the ensemble. I also am in Rock Island. Oh my gosh, I never thought this play would come together. Mainly because, the majority of us hate the Music Man. Even the director hates the Music Man. I am not particularly fond of it. But I do it, because I love Theatre. And this is my first production in my transfer college. So, it's been interesting! When they brought in the orchestra yesterday-I got chills, and it sent a new wave of energy throughout the show! The part I really love, is when we do Shipoopi. It's really fast, and the dance goes by so quickly, and it looks really, really good. It will definitely be the showstopper in the whole production. I am still not a big fan of Music Man, but I am glad it's came around! We open on July 5th! The Day after the 4th of July!!!! YEEEEEAH!

Break a leg and keep us posted about the production!!

If the director doesn't like the show, then why did h(s)e choose to do it?

Well, its because he didnt choose it. Our Music Director, loves Music Man. And he was the one that wanted to do it in the Summer. But, he got a heart attack, and had to drop out of the production. Because of Gene's lack of enthusiam for the show, it has always been lacking for the actors. Because face it, if the Director doesnt like the show, the whole cast is going to feel it. I think that when the orchestra came in last night, it sent a wave of hope throughout all of us. Our orchestra rocks! And it is probably one of the best I have ever heard!

That's so sad!

It's good that they kept the original director's decision.

Well we already secured the rights. The Music Director, said we could change the show if we wanted to. But we didnt! Anyway... it's been fun I guess, glad it's almost done! Now on to Blythe Spirit!!!!

I recently did Music Man in a similar situation (I loved the show, but the choreographer was a little insane and a lot of the cast disliked it.) However, the show came together in the end, and we all had a blast. The audience thought Shipoopi was the best number- they went wild during every performance. I even had someone compare it to Broadway, and it was a high school production. That number can really shine, and I'm sure yours is fantastic. Enjoy!!

Tonight was opening night, we had a standing O. This show has strangely grew on me. I am still not the biggest fan, but it hasn't been all that bad. We could be doing worse. ie, anything Rodgers and Hammerstein... Sorry I dont like them.
