Music Man Photos!

My high school just wrapped up our run of The Music Man last Saturday, and I'd just like to post some pics! I didn't take all of them, mainly because I played clarinet in the orchestra ^__^;; So some were unceremoniously ganked from the drama myspaces XD. Here we go:

I can't decide whether or not they meant to spell 'billiards' wrong
Two of my friends in the chorus, busting a Sweeney Todd pose ^__^
One of our conductors in the opening scene
Two random cast members
Our lovely Mrs. Paroo
Charlie Cowell (left) and Tommy Djilas (right)
Cast picture
Gratuitous focus on Harold Hill during cast pic
Me, blurry faced, marching pantsed and all, and our strapping young Harold Hill
Shipoopi in rehearsal
Some of our Pick-a-Little Ladies (Eulalie is the third from the right, in purple)
Goofing around
Pick-a-Little Ladies in It's You costume
"We heard there's a new pool table in town!"
Our Winthrop is too adorable
Marian the Librarian
The money shot: a very flattering picture of our leads during Marian the Librarian

Enjoy ^__^
Ulla Dance Again!

Aww those are great!

I was in The Music Man two years ago (I played a Pick-a-Little lady)... I love your school's costumes! Especially the Pick-a-little's hats...those are awesome. Very Happy

Yeah, aren't they awesome? ^__^ Reminds me so much of our Hello, Dolly! show a couple years ago.

Oh yeah, I got a short video posted here. It's a bit of Ya Got Trouble (the sound is pretty good, but my friend didn't know how to use zoom *sweatdrop*)[/url]

You guys have to have had one heck of a budget! You set and costumes look amazing! And you have a huge cast... at my high school we had to bribe people to audition. Awesome though. Must have been a blast!

PS- my new avatar is from when I did the show the first time in 2003

I just did this show (ASM'ing) with a musical theatre academy adn I was so impressed with our sets and costumes- but they are nothing compared to yours!
People always post these fantastic photos of school shows and it makes me think how different life would be if I went to a school that cared about the drama department.

Awww, don't feel bad!! *pats* If it makes you feel any better, no one cares about our marching band program ($500 budget each year. Whoopdeedoo), plus we don't get anything for doing the musical. No free production shirt, no photos in the program, no extracirricular (sp?) credit; Nada.

Love your avvy, WalkingInStardust!

*EDIT* Stay tuned for more videos!

What fun pictures. I've always wanted to be in this show since I saw in on Broadway with Rebecca Luker. Unfortunately I never got the option but my sister did. She was just a featured dancer in the show, mainly because she missed her callback for Zaneeta.

Great pictures!! I did the Music Man my frehman year in high school *cough* 7 *cough* years ago, and the pictures brought back so many memories!!
(I did the show at a community theatre too a little over a year later.cause i loved the show so much, that production didn't even come close to living up to my high school's production).
Loved the pics Very Happy

Wow... I hate to repeat what others have said, but you guys must be loaded. The backdrop we rented for inside of Madison Gym was from the 90's, it even had a wall painted on the inside that said '99-00. Very Happy

I'll post some links to our production of this year to have a bit of comparison. They'll make you giggle. We had "Billiards" spelled incorrectly as well (among several other things). Oh man, that brings back memories.

For the record, don't feel bad, we didn't get any freebies either. We had to pay for our own T-shirts, $15 a crack, which isn't bad, but still...

*nod* We must have quite a bit of money, but I have no idea what kind of figures drama department gets. Add to that the money they get per show (we sold out pretty much every performance, and that's at least 100+ capacity, plus standing room at certain areas) and they probably have crazy funds O_o

We paid $15 for our shirts too (I'll try to upload a pic of our show shirt soon); but I'm not too miffed about it. I was until I found out this year that drama has to pays for theirs too ^__^

*EDIT* Another video is up! More Ya Got Trouble goodness

Your school has amazing costumes. I remember we had nice costumes as well. But your were lovely! : ) I played Alma Hicks. Pick-A-Little. : ) *sigh* I really miss that show. Adorable pics!

Our drama department doesn't even do show shirts. This year, for the first year ever, we can buy "NWSS Drama" shirts. No year, no show name. Just our school's abreviation. For $18. How thrilling.

In the 70's and 80's my school was known for putting on amazing shows, they's do extended runs and everything. The costumes and sets were fantastic. And now? We've got nothing. This year we did a straight play written in Australia that no one has ever heard of, but had really cheap royalties (or whatever you call the money you have to pay for the rights), and the last two years we've done musical revue type show. But wait, it gets better. Nothing was sung, it was all lip-syncing to backtracks!

Yeah, that's how sad it is. The really pathetic part? We're so proud of our little shows, that actually look like crap when you watch the DVD a year later.

/rant. Sorry about that.

I like these lovely pictures xD We had some nice costumes but they weren't the greatest. Our Eulalie had a stuffed bird on her hat and after the last pick-a-little song, she squeezed it and made it chirp Laughing Our Harold Hill had this really ghetto plastic hat for most of the play and she (yes, Harold Hill was played by a girl in ours: no one did it better than Aly and the other two most likely male actors were far better as the Mayor and Marcellus) literally had to tape it to her head 'cuz it wouldn't stay on! I had a hat in Shipoopi that kept coming off and the last performance I had no time to put it on so I wore it in Gary, Indiana. Marcellus had a shirt that made it look like he had big muscles lol We also had some cool props too, such as the pitch fork used by a farmer and then an angry townsperson in the mob. Plus the washboard I got to use was fun to play with in rehersals.

In the last picture it looks like Harold is a mime!

So, if this is a high-school production, where did lil Winthrop come from?
puckinnichild

lol! ^__^

For Winthrop, Ama--- good lord, I can't spell her name Smile, and assorted townschildren, we held auditions open to the whole city. Generally the random other kids were little brothers or sisters of the drama peeps, but the lead children were selected from the auditions. Everyone loved having little 'uns on the set; they made mic checks tres amusante Wink
