Music from "The Wiz"Does anyone know where you can buy the soundtrack from the original Broadway version of the play? I've found the movie version with Diana Ross, but that is absolutely not the version I want. I saw The Wiz on Broadway when I was about ten or so, when Stephanie Mills played Dorothy, and I can't find that soundtrack anywhere!

First things first.
The Wiz is a musical, not a play.
Secondly, if you are looking for the soundtrack, you already have it. What you want is the Original Broadway Cast Recording.
Anyways, if you can't find it in any local CD stores, try amazon.com. They are bound to have it.

How very smart you are. With the exception of her descant riffs in "Brand New Day" Ross absolutely SUCKED as Dorothy. Sorry. Her vocals were incredibly weak for the most part, and were on lowered songs as well which is even more embarassing. Highlights of the soundtrack only include the Addaperle (Miss One in the movie), Ted Ross, and Michael Jackson. For some reason I was fond of neither Nipsey Russell (sorry) or Lena Horne. Just a flop of a picture.
However, on the Broadway Cast Recording you get Mills which is amazing. She's honestly one of the most talented women on the face of the Earth, and its sad that she isnt recognized more for her abilities. Though that album's vocals aren't of the best quality, it's still far superior to the movie soundtrack in my opinion. Okay, done with my rant
