Mulan, Jr. (because I'm a nice sister)

Okay, because I'm a nice sister (as much as I don't want her to get involved with theatre like me ... I'm mean about her getting involved with theatre), the middle school at my school is doing Mulan, Jr. (My new school is preschool-grade 12.

My sister wants to audition. I'd say she has a solid mezzo/soprano II voice (she can sing really high, but in my opinion it doesn't sound as good). She's probably better than me in some ways. I'd share her video on youtube of her singing for those who are wondering, but it isnt good of her.

Anyways ... she's never auditioned for a musical before. Or a show period. The only shows she's been in are the drama class she and i took (we were in separate ones) in fourth grade and the other was this year in eighth grade during drama class.

Does anyone know anything about it? Like ... is typecasting important for this show? Any tips for auditioning for it?

She's medium-built, blondish/brownish hair, and about 5'6"-5'7".

Anything I should tell my little sister about this show?

Thanks!

I'd say sing something Disney. Yes, cheesey, but it's a middle school and they're not going to be as picky as a community theatre or high school would be. I don't think they're expecting the 11-year-olds to know every word to South Pacific. Or such. Just go easy.

Ahh...they actually were given a piece.

And besides...they made sixth grades sing Latin for a middle school honor choir audition ... so go figure.

Wow...ok never mind.
