I was just wondering what the significance of these two characters are in the show. The reason I ask is because everyone within the musical has a right to be there, except for these two. At least, that's how I see it. Anyone have any ideas?

Aldolpho adds humor and mayhem...such as when he mistakes The Chaperone for Janet.

Mrs. Tottendale is the host of the wedding but otherwise I don't really know what her purpose is in the show.

no one has a real purpose. thats whats fun about the show its a tyhrowback to the old 1930s musicals where plot was 2nd to the music and jokes.
