Dear Sweeney Todd Fans,

Does Mrs. Lovett really love Sweeney Todd, or is she just lusting after him? Why does she do everything in her power to pursue a man who is still so in love with his wife?

Lovett is obviously lusting after Todd and has for years --"always had a fondness for you I did" and all of By the Sea
But I think she also loves him in a way (she's willing to do anything for him--even kill Toby)--or at least she's convinced herself that its love and in her mind it's justifyable (she's fine with pursuing him/planning to marry him even though Lucy's still alive) "Better you should think she was dead. Yes, I lied 'cos I love you! I'd be twice the wife she was!"
