movie vs show questions

i just finished watching the movie (the more recent one--film after show after film) and i havent seen the show, so im confused about a few things, s/a

does audrey have to talk like that? it seems like it'd be aweful for stage--no one would hear her.

i know the ending is changed and some of the songs are missing, any other big differences?

what would the ppl of skid row/chorus do? b/c it seems like all the chorus parts are done by chiffon, crystal, and ronnette (im asking b/c a community theatre near me is planning on putting on LSoH this season, but it seems like there are really only eight roles.

I was in the play a few months ago and Audrey really does talk in that high pitched voice the whole time.

There are alot of big differences because some songs got removed. When Orin goes to get Audrey for their date, he tries convincing Seymour to take the plant and get out of Skid Row (Seymour refuses). Mushnik overhears the conversation and is in shock, because without the plant, his shop won't be making money. Mushnik decides to adopt Seymour... in song ("Mushnik and Son"). And Meek Shall Inherit is different.

As for the Skid Row people, they don't do anything after the song. Crystal, Ronette and Chiffon are the only ones that sing backup for songs. But there are more than the eight characters, there's a few minor roles like the Customer, the Radio guy, Mr. Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip and Patrick Martin. Usually they are played by the same actor that plays Orin, but when i was in it, those roles were devided up between 3 other people (I was one of them... Mrs. Luce)

I hope that helped a bit

I was chorus in Little Shop this year.

We were in "Skid Row" and the finale.

Oh, and I was a telephone person in "Closed for Renovations."

i meant more the weird breathiness she has in her voice, like she's whispering everything, which makes her singing ...odd

That's definitely a character choice. Some actresses choose to have the breathiness only in their speaking voice, some are breathy the whole way through and some not at all.
Catherine

She does sound breathy, but when she reaches the high notes in Suddenly Seymour and Skid Row, she high breathy voice kinda disappears and it sounds pretty belty. Thats what I think anyway.

I love AND hate Audrey.

The little soft lispy voice gets on my nerves but then i realise it's part of the character and probably wouldn't work normally.
