rebellohan

ooooo i've been looking forward to this ever since it was announced Smile
Sweeney Hyde

I just realized I can get a full sized poster from my father who works in the film shipping industry! SQUEE!!

EDIT:
For anyone concerned, the billing at the bottom goes as follows:
Johnny Depp
HBC
Alan Rickman
Timothy Spall
Borat Laughing
Jekkienumber24601

I love the black and white, minus the blood red chair. so creepy!!! and you see red in the floorboards. could represent blood seeping through or the light from Mrs. Lovett's oven downstairs.
Don't Tell Mama

I like the tagline.

Depp's pose is definitely appealing to the fan girls, but otherwise a pretty interesting design concept.
Bagel

It also looks like it could be a poster for Edward Scissorhands 2...
Trevor

Wouldn't it be amazing if the film were shot in completely black and white in low quality like that EXCEPT for red?

YES!!!

Oh my word that would be freaky...*dreams*

OMFG!
*fanboy squeals*

I think the poster captures the brooding vengefulness of Sweeney's character perfectly, and definitely bodes well for the movie. This should certainly pull in the crowds!

Oooh, that is too cool. I'm loving that poster!

And yes, Johnny Depp is gorgeous... Drool

I also agree that it would be interesting to see the movie shot in black and white with touches of red. Though I'm sure it probably wasn't shot bright and sunny, so there's nothing to worry about as far as that goes. Lol. Very Happy

The movie poster looks awesome! I'm sure the movie's gonna be good. Smile

That could very well be. The shots of Johnny's costumes didn't have much color... And why would they bother with colored costumes for a b&w film?

Would you put color in for Mrs. Lovett's hair should it turn out to be red? Her lipstick? Laughing

I wonder if Christmas is a good time to release it? Sort of clashes with the season. Shocked
Sweeney Hyde

My father works in a branch of the film industry, mostly having to do with shipping the films and handling the film merchandise...he says that for some reason a ton of people go to the movies around christmas time...I mean...we all know that the two biggest times of the year for films are summer and the "Christmas season" which is actually thanksgiving through new years. Some studies have shown that people are also more likely to go to the theatre around those times due to time off and such. I don't see any other possible explaination for the christmas opening. Plus with all the bloody Santa films that come out every year plus the corn ball family films it's good that we get a good story for a change lol

It's actually going to be a limited release just before Christmas and the wide release a week or two into January.

The poster is brilliant, it reminds of the art on the cover of most of Gregory Maguire's adult novels (Wicked, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Mirror Mirror, Lost, etc.). I'm so excited to see this movie.
Kaiana

I love the picture in the background of Lucy and Johanna. Very nice touch. I have a feeling this will be a very beautiful film if nothing else.
what_the_heck013

So Sweeney Hyde's avatar gave me the need to come back here and admire the poster some more.

I really like how in some aspects it looks like a drawing and in others a photograph... that's Tim Burton for you.

If you look behind the cuff of his left pant leg you the the slightest of a puddle.

Black, white, and red Sweeney-ness!?! *Squees*

The only thing that I'm NOT looking forward to is Sweeney Fangirls... Evil or Very Mad
I DO know there's going to be Sweeney stuff at Hot Topic.
Sweeney Hyde

I would like to point out the portrait of Lucy and Johanna in the backround...I think that adds an excellent touch...although I doubt it will be present in the film...WOULDN'T IT BE COOL TO HAVE A FLASHBACK SCENE OF BARKER FAMILY SHOWING THEM ALL HAPPY AND STUFF?!?!

OOO MAYBE IT COULD BE IN HIS VERSION OF JOHANNA!

COuldn't they flashback during "Poor Thing"?

^They could, but that's not really when everyone is happy. Things are already starting to unravel for them.

Eh...I think Poor Thing will be in flashback...although it will be to further the story along and clear the air of what's going on...I think if there is to be a flashback of Todd remembering the old days with his wife and baby it would be during his Johanna but then it would disappear in time for us to see the throat slittings...at least...that's how I picture it...
DanUSGS

I approve.
