Most annoying thing EVER!

I was talking with some people the other day about costuming and annoying things that happen in the wardrobe room during the show, and was wondering..."What is The MOST annoying thing to you about CATS"
Can be anything from costume troubles to cast changes to preformances...

I had a hands down agreement with some cirque preformers that the MOST annoying thing they found about CATS is when they try to talk with other fans, some of the fans get into a "MINES BIGGER" competition. One example came from a preformer who said she was actually seeing the show live for the first time, and was talking with a girl in que. The girl was really excited, and was going on and on about how she loved the show and had seen Cats a zillion times.
The professional actress was listening to the girl, when the girl announced that she ran a web page that was the NUMBER one web page on the net, and that she knew more then anyone ever, and that she wasn't expecting this show to be any good, but was only going to brag and do a show critique on her page. The actress was put off by the girls insistent bragging and was given a buisness card by the girl. She said the show wasn't as good because she was bothered by the girls prior critique, when she returned home she checked out the webpage and found not only some really badly put together free site with too many badly scanned images, but also that the girl was bashing the show mercilessly in her blog.

(this was a recount I heard from a co-worker/professional)

I Whole heartedly agree that I think "snobby" fans are really annoying.

the MOST annoying thing that I think could happen at a show in wardrobe perspective is a torn seam in a unitard. I had to completely restitch a seam while an actor was wearing it, because during one act he'd slid across stage and ripped the seam in his crotch. Not fun to be stitching someones triangle seam crotch while in the costume while they are eager to get to their staging area.

So that's what annoys me and some of my co-workers...

I'm curious...

What annoys you? Smile

I think fans who really DO have good sites and know a lot about the show, but see that as license to be mean and snobby to everyone else, are really, really annoying.

From a performer's point of view, I'd say that any costume malfunction would be a pain because the costumes, because of their nature, have to be perfect or nearly perfect, because there aren't many ways to hide any rips or anything unless it's under an armwarmer or legwarmer.

Ooh, the unitard zippers were really annoying when I did Cats, because if you zipped them too fast, then they broke apart or snapped or something. I had to be sewn into my unitard for one show, because the zipper broke about 5 minutes before the overture started...and then the whole zipper had to be torn out that evening and replaced for the remaining shows. Later, I found a piece of the actual zipper (not the teeth) in my unitard leg, poking me half to death during Old Deuteronomy. Rolling Eyes

A hair grip and microphone wire digging into your scalp whilst you are boiling over in a yak hair wig is pretty annoying! ha ha!

People that stare at me for shouting out MACAVITY! Shocked

I hate it when the paint rubs off my unitard after I've spend seven or more hours hatching.

I hate it when I'm cornered by a mob of little kids who pet me too much and pull on my tail.

Not to annoy any people who do do this, but i really can't stand going watching Cats and seeing people in costume, i once spent a whole show trying to see the stage over someones large Cat ears...and that very same show there was people posing as Cast members in the foyer having their pictures taken when it was quite obvious they weren't cast. The people who worked at the theatre seemed quite annoyed at them performing extracts from the dance and doing the splits all over the floor. Not to burst anyones bubble but this annoys me most about Cats!

I think going in costume is fine so long as you BEHAVE. If they were doing what you just mentioned they were way out of line. First of all, you make sure EVERYONE knows you're not part of the cast. Then you don't go showing off like that. And it's just plain common courtesy to take off your huge wig if it's in someone's way. Oh, and calling ahead of time to the theater if going in full costume is obviously a good idea.

Me and my friend are thinking about going in makeup and tails. But our seats are in the balcony, so I know we shouldn't distract any performers. And since we won't wear wigs the only way we might bug anyone is that Callie is very tall anyway, and I don't have a shrink-ray handy.

Most annoying thing so far is that I ordered my tickets for the May 10th performance a MONTH ago and they still haven't shown up. I emailed MAC, this is the SECOND set of tickets they've sent and so far they're MIA.

I'm pissed. Evil or Very Mad I don't know what's going on, as the address they have on file is the correct one and I've been getting all my other mail. The kicker? It takes me maybe 15 minutes to drive to the theatre. I might have to go physically pick them up.

If they've screwed them up this badly I don't trust their 'will call' function. Confused

I dress up as a cat and read to kids as a hobby. That's when I was cornered.

Ohh singing along has got to be at the top of my list. Does my box in big time. The girl sitting across the aisle from me kept on treating us to extracts of Skimbleshanks... d'oh!

I've never really encountered anything bad, just funny. One of the guys behind us whispered to his mate, (at the bit when all the cats turn to hiss at Griz bfore the fast section of the Jellicle Ball starts), "Do they like....kill Grizzybelly now? I had to laugh lol XD.

Very Happy

Oh yes, Singing along REALLY bugs me, especially if they are WAY off key. I also absolueltly dispise people who plug their websites on other peoples web sites.

Admittedly I used to plug Belles domain, but only to refrence things she has in relation to starlight express, But recently I was on some CATS forums and there were people posting JUST to advertise their own forum and how it is SO MUCH better then the one currently they were posting on...That's Just rude. It really is insulting to the person hosting the current forum. How would you feel if someone came and did it to you?

bleah.... I mean a sig file is diffrent, it's like a mini banner, and I feel thats fine and NOT IN YOUR FACE insulting. :p

OH and people who Sneak in Snacks!!!! WHAT THE HELL!? I mean your listening to the overture and then...Crumple, snap, crunch... (soda can opening) "Oh Jimmy let mommy hold your can...there's not cup holders." (soda SPILLS) Ushers get upset...

And so on...

Especially if the show is in an old fashioned opera house, UHG! d'oh!
