mining pans to dance on: borrow or rent?

Am directing show in Florida, opens in January. Anyone have a contact person that I can borrow or rent the mining pans that are strong enough to dance the Stroman choreo on? If you know where your production got their props, please let me know. Thanks.

When we did the show we bought heavy duty aluminum pizza pans. They worked great. I can probably find out where we got them if you can't find them.

In which number do people dance on mining pans? I don't remember seeing anything like that in the three productions of this show I've seen (but it's been a few years, I could be forgetting).

It's toward the end of the "I've Got Rhythm" number.

Regular mining pans work fine.

Set Buildin' Dad,

Thanks for the info. Another theatre told me the same thing about the pizza pans, so I'm looking for them. Any chance your theatre has any of the other choreo props available to rent? Let me know! Darlinbarry@aol.com

We are out in California, and built or bought all our own props for the show. I don't think we even kept the stuff after the show. None of it was expensive or hard to make. The other major choreo props were as follows:

The corrugated tin sheets that they slide across in IGR - The raw material for these is available at any Home Depot, and is inexpensive. We mounted ours to sheets of plywood to make them more stable, and to make them easier to handle (no sharp edges this way).

Washboards for IGR - Got these from a thrift store.

Other misc. percussion instruments for IGR - You can really use anything. We used old garden tools mostly.

Strings for Slap that Bass. - We sliced up rope, then tied it together with thread and put it on a reel that we made.
