Mikey's Story - CATS Fiction

This is an article for a CATS fiction. Please ignore if this is not your interest.

Recently, I was asked by littlgriz to write a story aboaut her cat, Mikey, who passed away a short time ago. She wanted Mikey to meet Toireasa, who is called "The Jellicle Princess" by many of us. "Tess" was a little girl who loved CATS, her mother, and Life. But a horrible disease took her away from us at the age of 5 on April 24, 2002... Her mother, Julia, recorded that she died during MJ & RT while the video played... Toireasa's story can be located at: JULIA's JOURNAL.

With that in mind, I wrote a short story from Mikey's standpoint as he journeyed from this world to the next. You can find it at: MIKEY & THE RAINBOW BRIDGE. When I update my website in a few days, the URL will be in my Stories Page with Toireasa's Story.

Peace be with you,
Rumblepurr Cool

I just want to say, I read both the links with a lump in my throat.

Beautifully written Rumblepurr, as is all of your stuff!

I read both also. What a truly inspirational and amazing little girl Toireasa was, their families were blessed to have such a child in their lives, she was one in a million. I hope shes happy where she is now, and watching Cats! God Bless her and her family. Loved the story too, amazingly written and a lovely tribute! Very Happy

Touching as always, Milord. And so many memories through those lines...

BTW, I happened to hear from Julia a few days ago, and she sends her love to everyone. Smile

Thanks for that, Swan! I was here on MdN for the last few months of Toireasa's earthly life, and I remember the night she died... I happened to be at the London production of Cats that evening, and someone figured out afterwards that she passed on at exactly the moment when, in London, Grizabella was ascending to the Heaviside Layer.

Whenever I see blue sparkly nail polish I think of Toireasa. She was a great kid, and greatly loved.
yes she wase a sweeet thing gods leting her meet all the animuls in hevan Smile

My pleasure. Smile
I think we all have strong memories of that night. Many of us were at home, staring at their PCs and jumping from Toireasa's site to the Cats Forum, waiting for news... it was such an odd sensation. Being so far, and yet so close to each other.

Thank You...

I humbly thank all of you for the comments... My wife and I lost Laura not too long ago. Her coloring was a tortoise-shell, so it slightly made her a "Jenny." To us, losing one of our cats is like losing a family member. As for Tess, I was at my computer that day when I felt a hard sense of loss... and, I remember that it was 1:24pm in SoCAL... just shortly after she entered the Gates... To this day, I believe she touched me to say thanks before going on...

Writing the story was relatively easy. As a person who keeps a cat in my life, I know what losing a cat feels like. As a writer, I knew what my impressions are of the Heavyside when I wrote TJC. And, I also had the poem of the "Rainbow Bridge." As a Christian, I believe in a benevolent God who loves all Creation. Put that all together, and Mikey's story merely appeared on the screen of my WORD application. Perhaps, I was guided to write the story the way I did...

Last... if you did cry while reading it... you joined me... Thank you for letting me know that the words passed that feeling onto you...

Your humble servant,
Rumblepurr
The Writer Cat...
