How are they going to make him fat?
wicked_boy

I thought havin John in the movie as Edna was bad, but they proved me wrong.

Hopefull Michael will prove me wrong. It's hard to imagine him as Edna though.

Eh, his face seems chubby enough.
Then I guess just a fat suit.

I think he'll be brilliant in the role. Mel Smith is to play his husband.

Indeed, he's umm... Not slim any more. Admittedly not Edna-sized but by NO MEANS slim.
Musical Fanatic!!

Ben Ellis from Any Dream Will Do is playing Link aswell!

It's ok, he already did the work for them.

Hey, I already said that!(ish). Get back in your cage, TVAW Laughing

Leanne Jones newcomer is to play Tracy Turnblad.
Tracie Bennett is to play Velma Von Tussel

I think Michael Ball may just be quite brilliant in this show to.

Perhaps the gained weight is intentional for the role. The fatsuit he wore for Fosco took it's toll on his health in the end. If last time is anything to go by the extra pounds will vanish once they get started with Hairspray.

I adore Michael Ball and i'm going to see hairspray in november but i'm worried about it! surely his voice is too deep!? in the film john travolta works, you know its a guy but you kind of forget. michael balls voice is just so deep! hopefully he'll be his usual amazing self though!

Harvey Fierstien had a pretty deep voice. I think Wilbur takes the high notes in "Your Timeless to Me" anyway.

I'm there in October. Finding a voice for Edna will be one of the biggest challenges for Michael wont it. Has anyone heard Mel Smith sing before? I think they will work really well together and "Your Timeless to Me" could prove to be one of the highlights of the show. I believe rehearsals start monday.

For any MB fans out there His Prom (on the 27th Aug) will be broadcast on radio 3 live from the Royal Albert Hall and also televised on BBC4 that evening. The radio broadcast will be available to hear on listen again for a week afterwards.

He'll be great I think. When i heard this, I had a very good feeling about it.

What's become of Marius? XD

Hahahaha, I hate Michael Ball.

Every time I see him I want to punch him in the face!

I'm fine with him as Edna, I think, though.

^ His hyper 10th anniversay Les Mis performance annoyed you too? XD

Because now he's punching himself in the face...
Cassie

Blimey talk about bearing a grudge Very Happy His over excitment at the end of the 10th TAC was endearing imo. I think he was enjoying every last second of it because he knew it was the last time he'd play Marius. End of an era, although I have heard him sing parts of the score in various concerts and he still sings the hell out of them. Wink

Going on the picture Michael's Edna look is already different from both Fierstien & Travolta's portrayal of her. It's going to be very interesting in October to see the finished character in full flow.

Well, yes.

But I just hate him and his voice in general.

Whenever he sings, no matter what he's singing, all I hear is "Oh man, I'm so good aren't I? Man, listen to me. Whoo, I rock."

Hate him.

And his face is just extremely punchable.

For some reason, that reminded me of Pearls Before Swine, several years ago, when Rat was running for President, he was chanting "PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE! PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE! for some reason...I forget why...

i love Micheal Ball, but now when i listen to the LMTAC, i'll just think of him in this and completely go off the idea of playing Cosette!
