Metal, Anyone?

Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil anyone? I mostly like metal with female vocalists and, perhaps coincindentally, all the bands I like are also European. Any other fans in the house? I know it's a rather odd taste when combined with musicals, but 'tis true...I like showtunes and metal XD.

I'm currently loving Lacuna Coil's Spellbound, off their latest album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1kCd0Wh3zE

It's a little more mainstream-sounding then their usual fair, but I can't get enough of it for some reason, especially the chorus. It's awsome Very Happy

I'm a huge metal guy.

I'm into bands like System of a Down, Iron Maiden, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Black Flag, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Symphony X, Guns n Roses, Velvet Revolver and the like.

Well as long as it's not death metal I don't mind it too much.

I'm not really 'into it', but I do like a little bit of Within Temptation and Nightwish. Do you like the new vocalist? I do. Personally, I only listen to the new album (Dark Passion Play).

The various Within Temptation albums couldn't really hold my interest either so I've only kept a few tracks on iTunes - the cover of Kate Bush's "Running up that Hill" is my favourite (I LOVE it), a long with Angels and Ice Queen.

I guess you would find it cringeworthy to consider "Evanescence" similar to Within Temptation and Nightwish, but I do enjoy both of their studio albums too.

Recently Carly Smithson (I think that's her name) from American Idol joined Ben Moody and things from the 'original' Evanescence to form "We are the fallen" which I am excited about too.

Actaully, Evanescence got me into the genre Very Happy

I still love them but they sure take their sweet time recording Mad I love their demo stuff and the new album best. I felt the first album was too bass heavy everywhere...their new stuff is more evenly distributed in the instruments, and the songs perhaps more mature (with exceptions-Hello is probably the darkest of their songs and perhaps their most mature in the way it deals with coping and understanding the denial that comes with it as a child)

I've heard a bit from We Are the Fallen.. It's pretty good, but too "poppy" for my taste. I like the music a little heavier. And I feel that they should try and sound a but more different from Evanescence, if only to stop the incessent fan whining over them being a rip-off. Not that I care if they were. Good music is good music and I'm not too obsessively devoted to Evanescence to go on a rabid fan rampage over it (although that may have been different 5 or 6 years ago when I first got into them Laughing) It's been especially bad with all the mess over 90% of the band leaving and making We Are the Fallen...makes me think that Amy Lee may be turning into a diva and making things difficult...I certainly hope not though Sad

And I do like Anette better than Tarja, if only because I can only handle Tarja in portions. I'm currently back to liking her. She really duid give the band a unique sound with her classic soprano vocals, but I do hate all the flack Anette, the new singer has been getting for sounding different. Youtube is full of haters deameaning her as sounding too "pop". I really think she's great, and brings something new. I love the new album as well, Dark Passion Play. I love how all over the place they were with the music. There's the big "epic" piece The Poet and the Pendulum, the regular metal, like Bye Bye Beautiful, their heavy metal song with Marco's (the male back-up vocalist) voclas, a ballad with Eva, and of course the Celtic/folksy Islander. It's so cool how all they managed to meld into one Album.

I don't listen to many North American metal/rock bands besides Evanescence, but I do like some of System of a Down's stuff.

I'm not a huge metal fan, but my best friend is, so I'm very familiar with Marilyn Manson, System of a Down, Metallica, etc, etc...

I do happen to love Black Sabbath, though. Smile

Not much of a metal person, myself. I like some power and symphonic metal, but not much else.
