Stephen Sondheim's Merrily opens this Saturday at Derby Playhouse. Glenn Carter (Jesus on the DVD of Jesus Christ Superstar) plays Charley- he also played The Baker in Into the Woods and Bobby in Company both at Derby Playhouse as well.

This is the fourth Sondheim at Derby following very succesful and acclaimed performances of Into The Woods, Company and Sweeney Todd. The cast also includes Joanna Redman (who was in the recent Olivier winning Sondheim show Sunday In The Park with George) Eliza Lumley (Mary Poppins), Glyn Kerslake (Phantom, Into The Woods), Julie- Alanah Brighten (Beauty & the Beast) & Michael Beckley (A Few Good Men).

It is directed by Karen Louise Hebden who has directed all of the previous Sondheim productions at Derby, and designed by Dan Potra, who designed Johnno at Derby as well as a section of the Opening Ceremony at the Sydney Olympics.

There is a coach trip from London on 21 April.
