Mere Cat-like Curiosity...Just Wondering...
Have any of you ever had a situation where a reviewer likes everything about a show you're performing in...except you?
I'd like to know.

No, but that would totally SUCK! Besides, a reviewer isn't likely to bring up one thing only that they didn't like, and say the rest of it was really bad. Unless it was deliberate. But it would be a pretty boring review, wouldn't it?

Quick spelling thing...(Just because I'm a stickler and it's good to learn the right way to do things...)
It's "Curiosity", not "Curiousity".
And, as strange as this sounds...(Especially with all the regional work and work in NYC I've done...) I've never been reviewed...
(Well, maybe once, but I can't find it! I heard that someone wrote I was "charismatic and talented" when I did a musical in the city...but it is hearsay! LOL!)
And a friend of mine recently got a glowing review when the entire production was bombed. What made it even more interesting is that she was a member of the chorus and had a small, stand-out solo!
Which is a good reminder that there are no small parts...

I Thought it didn't look right, You'll notice it's been changed
The reason I asked about this was because it happened to me.

My best advice to you would be to look at the review with an open mind. Maybe see some truth in what the reviewer says about your performance, but don't take it too seriously and don't take it to heart.
9 times out of 10, reviewers in the smaller papers/etc. are generally people who tried to be actors and then gave up, so they're bitter at the whole darn business...LOL!
It is ONE person's opinion-that's the most important thing to remember!

Yes, a lot of reviewers really don't know what they're talking about, even if they're otherwise brilliant journalists. George Bernard Shaw made an idiot of himself (fortunately under a pen name) authoring harsh musical reviews such as those of Sir Edward German's symphonic and theatrical works. Lots of off the wall comments, too, like stating he was glad German didn't use trombone or trumpet when it was fairly obvious to any other listener and the other reviewers that such instruments were in the orchestra and playing. Other times, he'd have the nerve to think the music was too dramatic.
Luckilly for us, he later quit reviewing and started writing for the stage.
