Memoirs of a Geisha

I've been told by several people that I need to be exposed to 'Memoirs of a Geisha', but I can't decide whether to read the book or see the movie, and I don't want to do both. So, what would you guys suggest?

Those who love reading will insist that you should read the book, but the fact that you're only willing to do one or the other makes it seem to me that you don't want to make a career out of it, you just want to know the basics. The movie is a more convenient choice. Hell, it's probably on youtube, you could finish it by midnight.

I loved both. I think they were equally good.

Memoirs of a Geisha is one of my favorite books. Needless to say, read the book.

I think if you read the book, you will want to see the movie. But if you watch the movie, you probably will feel like it's good enough. I vote for reading the book, because it's the more complete/detailed of the two. The movie is visually just breathtaking, however, and I think you should watch it as well.

I just did some googling (I've never seen / read either and I'm an equal lover of film amd movies) and the book seems better.
