Curious question for anyone who has seen/been in this show-

1) How old is Esther played in the musical? Does it say a specific age or grade? In the movie she is a highschool junior, so I'm curious if it's the same in the show.

2) How old are the actresses that generally play her, I mean have you heard of/seen a fairly young (16/17 yr old) actress play the part?

Hi I directed this show with a high school group. Our Esther was 17 and in the show she is about 17. It was real life ages. It was harder having a Tootie who was 15. Hope this helps! Cam

I've seen actresses as young as 16ish and as old as 20ish play the role--I would guess that her age in the show is about 17.
