So, it’s finally here! The MdN Wicked Original Forum Cast Recording (MWOFCR.)

What will happen:

Everyone must read this

- Actor will send me the link(s) to all the backing tracks; I will then post them on here.
- Find out what part you will be audition for, by reading the character synopsis below record yourself singing that audition piece and upload it to megaupload.com, you do not need an account to upload on there.
- PM me the link to your auditions, I will keep the link.
- After all the auditions are in, me and Actor along with the selected judging panel will judge on who gets what parts.
- After that, you will record all of your parts as an audio, this must be uploaded onto megaupload.com.
- Actor will edit it together and make it into a full cast recording.

Rules:

- Audition for roles of your own gender.
- You can audition for as many parts as you want, but will only get one part in the end.
- Anyone who enters will automatically be in the chorus if you don't win any roles.
- Auditions will start on Monday (the minute the clock strikes 12) and will end on the following Monday, (the minute the clock strikes 12) then, the judging panel will decide on the parts and I will post the cast list ASAP.

PLEASE NOTE: Times are in British times, as of Big Ben.

Synopsis of characters:

Elphaba - Someone who can belt through songs like Wizard and I, Defying Gravity and No Good Deed. Don't audition for this part if you know you cannot pull off these big songs. Also, needs to be able to sing ballads like I'm Not That Girl well and be able to hit the last note (i think it's an E2). Audition songs for this part are the last verse of Defying Gravity and last verse of I'm Not That Girl.



Galinda - I would like a soprano in this role, to be able to sing songs like No One Mourns the Wicked and Thank Goodness, but if you're not don't worry. If you think you can still pull of these songs still audition. I also want someone who can do Popular really well. Really upbeat and funny. Galinda also has to hit the same note as Elphaba in the I'm Not That Girl - Reprise. Audition songs for this part are the last verse of No One Mourns the Wicked, the beginning of Popular and I'm Not That Girl - Reprise.




Fiyero - Has to be a tenor. Fiyero hits some high notes. Audition songs for this part are the beginning of Dancing Through Life (1) and a section of As Long As You're Mine.



Nessa - Not too picky about this part. Just play her as you wish. Singing-wise she is a very small part. I think she's only in a little bit of Dancing Through Life (haven't got backing to Wicked Witch of the East). Audition song for this part is a section of Dancing Through Life (2).



The Wizard - Again. Not too picky. Just play the part as you wish. In your audition, I would like you to try and bring as much comedy to the part as you can. Audition song for this part is the beginning of Wonderful.



Boq - Again, a very small part vocal-wise. He is only in a bit of Dancing Through Life (havn't got the backing to March of the Witch Hunters). Would be nice to have a tenor in this role but not too bothered. Audition song is a section of Dancing Through Life (3).



Madame Morrible - Only in a bit of Wizard and I and Thank Goodness. Not bothered how you play her. Just has to have quite a low voice. Audition song is the beginning of The Wizard and I.



Dr Dillamond I don't have any backing tracks for him at the moment, so all you need is a deep voice and be able to bleet during Something Bad. To audition, you can sing As Long As Your Mine, (see above for track)

Chorus (who will have solo lines aswell) - May have some leads singing chorus parts in songs they aren't in to make the chorus sound more full. Chorus members will be given little parts (witch's mother, father etc.) and solo lines here and there (thank goodness, no one mourns the wicked etc.). Audition songs for chorus will be any of the above because everyone will probably be auditioning for a lead. However, if you do just want to be in chorus please let me know.

Judging Panel:

I will be looking for some people to be on the judging panel. I will select those I think worthy of it. If you are on the judging panel, you can’t be on the recording.

I'll be auditioning most likley for Glinda, as I'm a soprano. I know there's the rule about only auditioning for your own gender's roles, but I'm an 11 year old boy who's voice won't be breaking for quite some time yet. Is that all right?

I just joined and absolutely love this idea! I'll be making my recordings of Elphaba's songs.

I might just audition for Glinda too; as I'm a high soprano, but I love the part of Elphaba more. We'll see!

i could never sing that part! have you heard megan hilty in thank goodness? she sings the tonic note at the end an octave above everyone else! INCREDDIBLE! btw, if you didn't get any of that, on "to-DDAAAYYYY!!!" she sings a full arpeggio to the top what-ever-note-it is!!

she's now my fave g(a)linda.

I think the problem with the auditions is that it was so specific what everyone had to sing. If you wanted to audition for 2 or 3 roles, it was very hard to learn, prefect, and record all the music in time.

It's alright. Far too many rules of thumb were being broken. As Virtual Actors Guild Instigator Nee Appraiser (or...yeah, you can figure it out, it's the virtual equivalent of an Equity deputy, lol), there are way too many production codes being broken.

For example, none of all two who auditioned are members of the Virtual Actors Guild. Non-VAG recordings are allowed, but only two per month, and at least two of the cast members must be card-carrying members of the VAG.
