Mary Poppins might tour in 2008Likely that Mary Poppins will tour in the Fall of 2008.http://news.yahoo.com/s/playbill/20070509/en_playbill/107906 Probably will do long month long stays like The Lion King does. How are the children in the US? If they don't sound British, I don't think it would work. |

Wow, that was quick. Why couldn't Tarzan be as quick with a tour? |
||||
| musikal_geek |
Because it sucked. |

I want a UK tour! | ||||
| EarlCarpenterFan |
Agreed! |
||||

Mary Poppins would be hard to do on a UK tour, but it is posible.

Mary poppins will be touring the UK after it closes in January.
I will check this - as I am interviewing Stiles and Drewe tomorrow for the podcast. Will confirm when I know more! |

That's ridiculous! Mary Poppins is not closing. Tarzan is, however. And beauty and the beast closed on july 29th. ='(

They're referring to the UK show, not the Broadway show. The UK Mary Poppins is closing January 12. |

I really wanted to see Mary Poppins in NYC last week... if Grey Gardens had closed before I arrived, we would have. I'll be glad if it tours.

They're casting for the tour, so I hope there's one!

I was looking on a site and they said that Mary Poppins is closing at the Prince Edward Theatre on Januray 12th 2008 prior to an international tour |
||||
| Mazz |
Yes. That's right. They have been casting for said tour over the past few weeks.

There's rumour that lovely Simon Lipkin who's currently in Avnue Q is going to be Bert in the uk tour. I hope that rumour's true!

It must be hard for disney shows to tour because of all the wonderful sets and the "Magic". Did Tarzan ever tour?
| wicked_boy |
No. |
||||

I wonder if they would ever do a cross-Atlantic tour? Has anyone ever done that? I imagine American Equity would make it difficult for CML to bring a UK cast in to tour a show, but has it ever happened?
| nickhutson |
You've got the original London Bert. I think that's the best you're going to get. Though, from what I've heard of Ashley Brown's singing - her British accent sounds a bit weak (especially in Chim Chimm)
| Mazz |
Chim Chuminy... maybe they'll swap Gavin for Scarlett?
| Mary-Lennox |
I think they should do an american tour!!! Both my parents are from the UK and I can pull off an accent wonderfully (not to brang) and I know other people that can as well!
