Mary Poppins Dutch Preview

Found this on YouTube, and I think that this is what the Dutch version of "Mary Poppins" might end up looking like.

I thought that the Mary was pretty good.
melissalive33

wow, this is neat. i cant wait to see this!
Fantine

I think her voice is a bit heavy for Mary... I had no idea that they had done this! There has been no word of a Dutch version of Mary Poppins though.
gracegreciagracet

Wow! I gonna check it out.
Fantine

There has never been a Dutch Mary Poppins.

I also hate the fact that they sing it in Dutch but then sing Supercalifragi... in a super American accent.
jqpopcorn

there will probably be a dutch production in the near future.........

The Netherlands

Fantine

Yes, it's official! It's going to be one of the productions for 2009/2010!

I'm so sorry Smile I completely missed your message! Where do you come from in the Netherlands?
MariekeLovesEnjolras

The Mary Poppins in this Youtube movie is Renée van Wegbeg, as it says, she's now playing the narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in The Netherlands Smile She's really good!!
rinasings2u

wow thats pretty coool
MariekeLovesEnjolras

Though she's probably not gonna be Mary in the Dutch production of 2010. There will be a tv show based on "How do we solve a problem like Maria" and "Any Dream Will Do" where we'll go looking for Mary Smile

It looks/sounds great. I'm really looking forward to this. Too bad they're casting on television, I don't like that. Giving new talent a chance is okay, but 'old' talent should be given a chance as well. Though the winners do have talent and all. But... well. I just don't like it.

But Freek was a great choice for Joseph! He's absolutely brilliant in that!
Haven't followed the Evita tv-casting and haven't seen the show either. Anyone knows what she's like?
Jaym

I've only seen parts on youtube, I think she's good. And I agree, Freek is brilliant (though I'd much rather had he'd continued Les Mis), but... I don't know. For some reason I just don't like tv-casting.
Scaramouche

I'm not a fan of tv-casting. Though I love Freek, and the evenings behind the tv to see those shows are quite entertaining.

And you know without those big shows Musical theatre would probably not have been that popular in the Netherlands.
hilarylove

How could anyone not love Mary Poppins?

Actually, the finalists of 'In Search of Evita' were already professionals (aka 'old' talent). As were all of the finalists (except two) from 'In Search of Joseph'.
So..... I actually kinda miss the new talent in those shows.

I'm auditioning by the way! Very Happy
Fantine

My audition is tomorrow! Very Happy
