Martha's childhood imagined...Dear "TSG" Fans,
What sort of a childhood do you think that Martha had?

Well, in the book, she was the oldest of about 14 children who could take care of themselves and the youngest kids by the time they could walk and talk. Any thing else I don't remember.

i think martha would have been a very independent child, doing everything for herself and not relying on anyone. she was proabbly a "motherly figure" to her younger siblings, and ran the house.
