Marry the Man Today

My friend and I are going to be singing "Marry the Man Today" for ITS (International Thespian Society) inductions. I'm going to be Adelaide and she's going to be Sarah. I have a few questions.
1. What is Adelaide's highest/lowest note in the song, if you know?
2. Any ideas on how we should stage it?
Thanks.

hi yeah i was adelaide in our g and d production this year. im pretty sure she only goes up to a D? and as low as a B. our chereo was great but its hard to explain. we did alot of acting towards the audience and each other. walking up and down the stage. and because sarah was taller than i am we stood back to back during 'marry the man today' then we'd turn to the front and wave dismissively during 'or change his ways tmrw'..
i have no idea if tht was any help!
but hope it goes well

marry the man today...

I was in this musical as Sarah, and when me and "adelaide" did this part, we started at opposite ends of the stage. Then as we entered the song more and more we walked closer and closer and got more into movement. We sang to each other and to the audience with much expression and emotion. We added little hand movements and certain facial expressions. During this song, it was like Sarah and Adelaide became friends and noticed they were similair in their relationshio problems. If you could add that feeling into your audition, then you are set! Good luck!

We started off sitting on the step that was part of the stage facing opposite directions (diagonals) kind of thinking to ourselves with the "at wanamakers and saks and kleins..." etc bit and then I (Adelaide) stood up on the note before "why not?" and she stood up on the note before "why not what?". Does that make sense? It looked really good.

We had various other little bits and pieces that worked well - another good one was on "save the fist..." she went to punch my face and I ducked down simultaneously. It's really weird writing this stuff out, it did look good! Good luck Smile
