My university does a summer theater season and the shows one of the shows they are putting on is The Music Man!

I am a sophomore musical theater major, 20 years old, and auditioning for Marian!

I have a great audition song picked out, but I'm a little worried about the acting portion of the audition. I've never played any characters remotely like Marian and I need to know what I should try to bring to my cold reading in terms of characterization!

well at first marian has to be serious and a no fun kind of person. So go for a "i'm not gonna fall for any crap" kinda voice

and...

Marian half way through the show shows her sweet side so you could try for a "sweet" voice
