Maria AuditionI have an audition coming up for the Sound of Music and I was thinking about going for the role of Maria. I am 15, mezzo-soprano, 5"3', blonde hair and average build I also look older then I am. I think that the auditions are only going to be for 7 to 18 I'm pretty sure but Im not positive. 
So bacially Im asking... What song should I sing for auditions? My teacher said to sing Summertime from Porgy and Bess (seeing as how its my NYSSMA solo too)
And how should I portray Maria?
And if I don't get Maria what is the other main girl part? (I've only seen this show once or twice)
Auditions are in late April early May (Im going from one musical to another my parents love me right now  )

I found out about the auditions....It's actually supposed to be for adults, but they need children. The still would consider you for Maria, Britt, if you can sing and look the part.
To be honest, when I told you, I thought you were going to say, I want to be Lisel, the 16 year old.
I'm probably going to do Getting to Know You or I Know Things Now.....
I'll pm you with all info I got on it....so you can forget it later .

Shoot...  I doubt I'd get Maria then... But I will still try for her.. and Leisal... and maybe one of the Nuns...
Just keep hoping and practicing I guess

Yeah I think we would know each other...same school/musical group.....friends.....Yeah we know each other.
Actually, we are both trying out for the musical.

anyway yeah he wants to be in it so someone will give him the info hes off from collage all this week

It's great that you can read and post in the "AUDITION ASSISTANCE" thread that is affixed to the top of this forum... 
It actually provides links to all the same questions people keep asking like, "What do I sing for Maria?" It's so annoying when people don't pay attention to detail...
