Decide what colors you want to use. You will need a base color, one or two colors for the contrasting color, and a color for the veining effect.
After you put on the base color you then apply the contrasting colors (I usually thin them with water a bit) with a damp sponge or crumpled paper to simulate the striations that occur in marble. You don't want to totally cover the base color, leave areas where it comes through. Once that is dry use a feather or very thin paintbrush to apply the veining. Remeber that the streiations and vein should be directional. Look at phots of actual marble to give you ideas. Practice first before you start.
This is a very common technique, and you can get good instructions at many craft stores and hardware stores too!
