Managers as Females?

Has anyone ever seen a production with a female Andre & Firmin? Is it doable (though probably anachronistic to have female opera-house owners in the 1870s?)? If I can ever get my college to do PoTo I would love to be Firmin Very Happy

I can see it happening, but the rights to perform it aren't out yet.

You'd probably have to change the keys of the songs to suit a female voice, though.

Well you have to remember that women never had that much rights back in that time so they really couldn't be mangers in that day and age, so no I can't really see it happen.

Are F&A baritones? Or tenors?

Andre's a (bari-)tenor, Firmin's a baritone. They both have the same low note, but their high notes differ. Andre's high note is an A4, Firmin's is an F4. Their low note is an A2.

(According to http://www.geocities.com/phantomonbroadway/char_desc.htm, but all of the male's deescriptions are written an octave up for some reason. I've changed the octave to what I believe was meant.)

...Interesting idea, to say the least.
Can't really see it happening.

Girls have been acting in guys rolls for a long time. If you can hit those low notes. There was an all female Yeston and Kopit phantom. A little chest binding. Some low singing. It can be done.
