Our community theater is doing Mame soon. Can someone tell me about the female parts? Also, I'd like advice on an audition song for a soprano.

mame- An elegant woman who loves to party. Energetic, flamboyand and lovable. Patrick's only living relative. She is a Mezzo.

Vera- An operetta star and Mame's best friend- Alto

agnes- Patrick's caring, protective, and loyal nanny. Soprano

Mother burnside-Beau's feared mother and head of the Burnside clan.- Mezzo

sally cato-Mame's competition for Beau's hand. She is extremely jealous of Mame.- mezzo

cousin fran- Beau's cousin.-Soprano

gloria upson- Patrick's pretentious girlfriend. A snob. doesn't sing.

Mrs. Upson- Gloria's mother.- doesn't sing

Pegeen Ryan — Mame's decorator and the woman Patrick eventually marries. Doesn't sing

Madame Branislowski- Salon Owner, mame works for her then gets fired.

Thanks for the help! I am 20 years old, dark brown hair and brown eyes. I am a soprano. Any suggestions for a part for me? I am only interested in singing parts.

Also, what would be a good audition song?

I would suggest auditioning for Agnes Gooch. It's a hilarious role.

why would you only be interested in singing roles? seriously, if you are an actress you shouldnt care if the role sings or not. there are some great non singing roles in Mame.

Don't limit yourself! You could do Sally Cato, sure, or Gloria Upson. Gloria Upson would look great on your resume, and would be a lot of fun for you to play, really. Chances are you would still get to sing in the chorus of the title number if they need extras for that scene (since Gloria doesn't appear until after that...). Mame has a strong book and has great non-singing roles.
