Mama understudy in August?Telecharge lists Roz Ryan as leaving 7/29 and Adriane Lenox starting 8/7. Does anyone know who will be playing Mama the week inbetween?

Wow. This is news. Adriane Lenox!
I've only seen her in Doubt.
Did not see her when she stood by for Tonya Pinkins in Caroline, or Change

If Roz doesn't extend that one week, I think it's safe to say Michelle Robinson would be covering for that interim. And damn she's good in the role.
(though part of me secretly wants Donna Marie to go on as Mama...what an interesting treat that would be!)

I was hoping Donna Marie might be on as Mama as well. Maybe if someone is by the theater this week, they can check out the understudy board?

as much as i love robinson - and she's a fantasic mama - if donna is on i may have to try for rush. me thinks donna will play mama along the lines of pawk - ubber sexy with fantasic vocals.

Hell yeah, joe. I agree completely. Only got to see her for the 2nd act though when Angie Stone was playing Mama. She trudged through the first act and then we got the fabulous announcement that Michelle would be playing Mama the rest of the show.

It really isn't all that great.
I totally agree with what you are saying about her acting. She's pretty damn fierce, and her Mama outfit is smokin' hot.
But vocally in WYGTM, at least from what I've seen, she just dosen't seem to cut it.

^ I've heard MMR sing it. And it wasn't bad at all. She sang it fine, no vocal tricks. It's NOT a hard song to sing. Some Mama's use a bunch of vocal tricks to fool the audience into thinking its a big difficult song. MMR didn't do that..but from the clip I saw..she really sold it. Have you you heard the original Mary McCarthy version? No vocal gymnastics in her version either.
Anyway! It's august.. who the heck is playing (understudying) Mama??

i only saw her as mama once - the last weekend the show as at the shubert (caroline as velma, billy zane as billy - damn that was divine!)

joe, who actually forgot to walk past the ambassador today to see who was on as mama - probably cause i knew i couldn't talk any of my friends into seeing the show lol

I saw some understudy slips on the street today, MMR was on as mama.
I wonder who will perform at bryant park next week.It would be great if AL sings WYGTM there.
