Male Vocal PartsSorry in advance if this has been asked before, but what are the vocal ranges for each of the male characters in this show? Also, if I'm not a very strong singer, do you think I have any hope of scoring a role besides the narrator in this show? I want to play the wolf but my voice is a bit higher than the part is originally written.

Our Wolf couldn't sing very well at all..but he used a fabulous character voice! Are you able to try that?
How old are you? Is this a highschool show or what?

Yeah, I could do a pretty good character voice. I've actually been trying to work on that. I'm 17 and it is a high school production. I might be able to pull it off because our director is casting the usually dual characters separately (wolf and prince are separate actors, so are the narrator and mysterious old man) which is good because I don't think I would be able to do justice to agony, but hello little girl I should be able to do at least acceptably.

Well, if you can pull of a character voice then you would be great for The Wolf. As long as you act the part that's really whats important in my opinion...

All the male roles are baritones, with the exception of Jack, who's a tenor.

?i have a question for the jack role is it better to be a great singer and an good actor or a okay singer and a greatish actor

This opinion varies. In my opinion it is ALWAYS (well okay, ALMOST always) acting over singing. I mean the person cast should obviously always be able to sing- but their acting should be their strongest suit.
Many people will tell you differently.
However, this is tough because most of the songs in ITW (Giants in the Sky being a pretty good example) require great vocal skill...
Why, what are you?
