Making a Resume...

I've never done professional theatre. Can I put high school and community theatre on mine until that changes? I'm auditioning for a show where I need a resume and I don't know what to do.

I think that whatever show you do looks good on a resume. People think that it's not professional to put HS musicals on resumes, but it was still a show that you did, even if it wasn't WITH professionals or experienced people. You still put your all into the show, so definitely put it on there.

If that's all you've got, then that's all you've got. Don't lie and try to make your HS stuff look better than it is.

Don't be ashamed of your lack of professional experience. I've seen some HS stuff that rivals low end community theater shows. Sometimes it's even better (depends a lot on the school). Does you HS have a good reputation? If so take advantage of it.

Its much worse to have all kinds of pro experience listed then walk in and be a total no talent. Yeah, it happens. *coughdirector'swifecough*

I wouldn't worry too much. We all have to start somewhere...

Perhaps add a few things like Solo and Ensemble Awards you've won, special concerts you've been part of, whether or not you were in an honors choir, Any drama awards you've won, singing national anthem at football games, forensics, volunteer work singing at hospitals, etc. All can be added if you don't have much experience. At least it shows you have activities that you do that are at least closely related...
