low profile skids?

Hi!
So the other day I heard someone mention something about this thing called "low profile skids" used in theatre productions. They can be used to bring on set pieces or furniture pieces and they are almost invisible to the audience. I was wondering how these work? Im unsure of what they are exactly and I was hoping someone might be able to help me.
Thanks!

From what I can tell from Google image searching they seem to be something like attachable "feet" to hold something just above the ground/stage. I'm not completely sure though I've never heard the term before.

I've tried felt skids before , but they didn't work out very well.
1. They don't slide over uneven surfaces such as backstage lips or stage imperfections.
2. They're only useful on very lightweight sets.
3. They are harder to manuver than casters.
