Love Heals...Was this originally in the show? Before it opened, I mean? I think it's a really good song, but I can't seem to figure out where it would have taken place in the show?
Does anyone know?

No, this song wasn't in the stage version. It was just put on the soundtrack for the movie.

I really do like the song though. I can totally see why it was originally going to be the credit song for the movie (I do like the instrumental of Life Support though). Everytime I listen to it, i picture the cast standing on stage after the bows, and singing it together, similar to Seasons of Love in the movie.

Right. I love the song too.
But the reason they didn't put it in the movie was because it just didn't fit at all and it would have been out of place.

Yes it is such a beautiful song. In the little inscription thing inside the movie soundtrack lyrics, it talks about the Allison Gertz foundation, and how recording it for the CD was supposed to be a tribute to Johnathan.

Well, it's not part of the show. That would be a good reason for not putting it in. And even for the credits - it's not part of the show. Wouldn't make sense.

Well, new songs are commonly added in movie versions to try for an Oscar for best new song. Sometimes, these songs are later added to the stage versions- see the many versions of Grease and Cabaret.

It's still not eligible for an Oscar seeing as it wasn't written for the movie.
