Looking for Information on Several PlaysI have auditions in a month for Lend Me a Tenor, Man and Superman, Fat Pig, Kindertransport, Christmas Carol, and The Hero Squad v. The Princess Snatchers. I don't know anything about any of them except Christmas Carol. Can anyone point me to plot summaries, or most particularly, cast breakdowns of the other five? |

Well, depending on how desperate the theater is... I was offered the role of the daughter at a prof theater. Both the daughter and the soprano were under 30 girls. If I remember right, Kindertransport is about how a Jewish girl got smuggled out of Europe when the Nazis were going crazy? Google it. That's how I learned about it. Was gonna audition for it too and never did. And Fat Pig is just great. Neil LaBute used to be my favorite playwright. (Martin McDonagh overthrew him though.) I bet you'll be able to find this one in a library fairly easily. LaBute is pretty popular right now. |

My cousin's college rep theatre (it's...associated with the college, but run by outside professionals...so I don't really know what to call it. But all the theatre majors do it) just did this show...anyway, my cousin played Tom, so I went to see it...and it was awesome. I really enjoyed the show a lot, they did a great job, and I just thought it was wonderfully written. LaBute is incredible, in my opinion. Ooh, here's a NY Magazine review (Jeremy Piven, the guy from entourage) was in it. http://nymag.com/nymetro/arts/theater/reviews/10737/ |
