Looking for a monolgue for the part of BelleI'm currently on the search for the perfect monologue for my purposes. I'm auditioning for the part of Belle from Beauty and the Beast at the end of the month and I need a one minute monologue. I don't want something very dramatic, but, on the other hand, nothing too comedic either. Something for a teenage girl (13-20 is fine) that comes close to Belle's personality. Any ideas?

This might be too young, but I love Anne's monologue to Peter from The Diary of Anne Frank. This website is always helpful. Also, if you plan to audition for plays and musicals more often, I would invest in a good book of monologues that are FROM PLAYS. The ones I own are Moving Parts : Monologues from Contemporary Plays by Nina Shengold and Eric Lane, The Actor's Scenebook by Michael Phd Schulman and Eva Mekler, Neil Simon Monologues: Speeches from the Works of America's Foremost Playwright by Neil Simon and Roger Karshner, and Shakespeare for One: Men : The Complete Monologues and Audition Pieces by William Shakespeare and Douglas Newell (but you would need the pne for women).

Just a word on using monologue books...Make sure the monologue isn't overdone because a lot of the ones in those books are, and read the play its from so you unstand what you are talking about. They are helpful though, if you are stuck. One of my favorite monologues is one of Cherie's from Bus Stop...I can't think of any really good ones off the top of my head for some reason right now...
