Little Shop of Horrors audition and Side Show auditionAlright I'm doing an audition that is for both Little Shop and Lend me a Tenor, but I only really care about little shop. I need 2 contrasting 16 bar selections and a 1 and a half minute comedic monolague. I have some ideas but any sugjestions would be great. I'm going for Audrey so something Audreyish...Since I need two contrasting songs (ballad and uptempo) maybe I should do one song in my chest voice and one a little bit more legit. Ideas??
ALSO. I have an audition for Side Show, my new favorite show, and I beleive we get 32 bars of one song. Ideas for that??? Both of these are in April...

For Little Shop look at Weird Romance. Specifically "stop and see me", though i'm sure there are plenty of good songs from that show.

Audrey does very little legit singing if she does its in somewhere thats green.

yeah its always hard to deside what I should show since technically I do both styles of singing. Sometimes it helps to show you can do legit even if its not required...but I dunno....I can always do my backup audition songs...Barabara Song from theepenny opera (in the correct key which is the high octave but belting it instead of doing it in my head voice) and Shy from mattress...They've worked many times before...

I was thinking that "Happily Ever After" might be a good choice! I think it can relate to "Somewhere That's Green" in that their both wishing for a happy ending. I'm also thinking that, for a ballad, "The Music That Makes Me Dance" from Funny Girl would work. I was thinking about Suddenly Seymour, and that song came to mind. I hope I've helped!

Since people usually don't sing Audry's songs in their legit voice I think it may be better to sing 2 belt songs so that you can show off more of your belt range, that way they can see more of what you can do.

Hmm, it might be way off, but I nabbed the part of Audrey with "Namely You" from Li'l Abner. Other choices might be "Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm" from How to Succeed in Business Without Trying or "Someone Like You" from Jekyll and Hyde. Also, try and develop the character in your voice (without copying Ellen Greene too much); I feel that this was instrumental in getting myself the part.
