Little Mermaid, Vanessa?

in the stage version of the Little Mermaid does Ursula change into Vanessa( the human form of Ursula) or does some other character/actor do this, or did they take that part out completely. Thanks for looking at this!
Mistress

according to Wikipedia, Vanessa was taken out completely (which angers me...I actually really liked that part of the moive... Crying or Very sad)

I always thought that was a good part, so what did they do instead of that? you know at the wedding? l
Mistress

A singing contest to find the mysterious girl with the beautiful voice who rescued Eric...of course Ariel can't participate becasue she's mute...

There is no Vanessa... I was a bit disappointed that they left her out. I think the singing idea was cute though... Actually the whole ending had to be changed... Instead of Eric killing Ursala with the boat, Ariel kills her by destroying the shell that holds all of her power.

And by taking the "Ursula Transforms to Vanessa" plot twist they made the character of Scuttle (the seagull) completely useless and unnecessary. In the movie his main function was to discover that Vanessa was Ursula in disguise, but now that this plot twist is gone, Scuttle has nothing important to do - he's just there for the laughs, and he doesn't even manage to do that. He's just an annoying character who sings two not-so-good songs ("Human stuff" in Act 1 and the disgusting "Positoovity" in Act 2).

The character could have been (and should have been!!) cut since he's got nothing to bring to the plot. But I guess since he's that big a part of the film, they just couldn't cut him.

I agree with Scuttle being useless but if they would have cut him then we would never have found out what a dinglehopper is. LOL
