Oh man, I remember when the rumors started about this, but I haven't heard anything new for a while. Is it actually happening? I love Kerry Butler and I'd absolutely go see the show if she did it (and I somehow accumulated the necessary funds). I hope it happens!
If not for the above reason, at least for curiosity's sake! (swimming on stage?) Annie

yeah...I want to see pictures! As much as people do or do not like Disney big buck productions, I'd really want to see this one. I loved The Lion King, haven't seen BatB though. (I would never even think about going to Tarzan or Mary Poppins though! bleh!) But The Little Mermaid!?! I loved that movie when it first came out! I was what, like 9 or something. I'm a redhead so I always wanted to be Ariel! Haha! btw, smart of Disney to release the movie from the Disney vault just in time to stir up a big buzz about it before they put the show on stage. |

It's opening it's out of town try outs in denver next summer. I just listened to some of the songs and I mest say that Ursual was mis-cast. I reeeeaaaally don't think the sound of her voice fits the charecter AT ALL. I still think that they should get a man to play it. The original key of Poor Unfortunate Souls is rather easy to sing in and I think it would just fit the charecter for it to be done that way. Think Edna from Hairspray's evil twin with tenticles. | ||||

I must agree that Ursula was mis-casted, but I don't think that a man should play the role. The role is meant to be a women and should remain as such. Men already get all the good bad guy roles, let a women have one now. | ||||

I really don't like that recording of "Part of Your World" with Kerry Butler, it sounds too whiney for Ariel. I vote for Annelise Van Der Pol!!! 
I did like "Poor Unfortunate Souls" though. I can't wait too see how they stage this, it could be really neat! |

Oh I know. I also know that this took place years ago. I'm just saying that I hope the final choice for Ursula actually fits the role. And for the one who thinks that men get all the good roles...................no. |

^ you select the song you want to listen to, it takes you to a new page. At the bottom of the page, after a few seconds, there should be two buttons. One says play and one says download. So, you can listen to the song on your browser or download onto your computer.
At least that was how I did it |

...This seems to be working for some people and not for others. I don't know what's going on. It worked for me yesterday, but not today. Who knows? The website is changing everday, though, it seems, so just keep trying. |

Dear Lord, I never said "turn Ursula into a man"! I said that I can see a man play Ursula as a man plays Edna Turnblad. He will be playing a woman. The original key to Ursula's song is very low and I would like the part kept like that because I think turning Ursula into some higher pitched squack would not only change but ruin the charecter in mu huuumble opinian. I could DEFINATLEY see some one like Billy Porter (or me for that matter) playing Ursula. That man would bring the house down. | ||||

I love the character of Ursula. I always have, I was a weird little kid.
She is brillant, her whole plan scheming, how she had everything planned from the beginning. The ending/her death sucked. I would have thought something more powerful then Prince Eric stabbing her with his ship would kill her. BTW, I hate this Ursula on this demo. Her rendition makes Ursula sound like a stupid villian. |

I think Sara Ramirez would be amazing in the role acting wise. I am a HUGE fan of hers but still think that her voice isn't low enough. The one person that comes to mind would be the original Mama in the Chicago revival. Marcia something I think. Though I believe she may be a bit too old now to pull Ursula off. |
