little brother auditioning for Aladdin JrMy younger brother has an audition for my high school's summer kid's camp production of Disney's Aladdin Jr next week, and has no idea what to sing. I'm trying to find something that'd he would know (ie something disney most likely) but that would also work both his age and the characters that he is going for. He's 8 years old He'd like to play either Aladdin, Genie, or Abu He's really nervous because this will be the first time he's auditioned solo (till now he's always auditioned in a group). I want him to feel prepared and to really know his song, so the sooner that we can start working on it, the better it will be. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanx, Whit (and Jake) |

if you want something from Disney, go with I Just Can't Wait To Be King- Lion King thats my favorite Disney movie |

Abo isn't in the Aladdin Jr. script. Unless they add him.
My school did Aladdin Jr. this year. I wasn't in it (I was in a different show) but I read the script many times and heard all the songs. It is a pretty good show for a Jr. show. If you go to www.broadwayjr.com/default_home.asp they have a thing called audition central that may help him decide. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Ellen |

abu is too in the aladdin jr. script.
at least, he was in the production my theatre put on. 'one jump ahead' or 'never had a friend like me' would be good songs, if songs from aladdin are allowed. |

You must have added Abu in because Abu and Jasmine's tiger are not in the script. I don't know why.

Abu isnt in the script. Only the parrot is...when talking about animals....When my school did it, we all had to sing music from the show. I would sing Prince Ali or Friend Like Me (the beginning before the chorus comes in)
If its a high school camp, and ur brother is eight, make sure he knows that he prob wont get a lead like aladdin or genie....or jafar. but theres plenty of minor and ensemble/chorus parts, and its awesome cause they get to sing most of the music too. Also, there are five narrators that come and go throughout the show... |

I suggest an old jazz piece for the Genie. Cole Porter sort of stuff. Ya' know. |
