Lion King - London

Anyone seen The Lion King in London? I saw it about a month ago. It was actually really disappointing. I had seen it before (quite a few years ago in Toronto) so I had something to compare it to. The best thing about it was the understudy that I saw for Simba - he was wonderful. Young Simba was quite awful - his "I Just Can't Wait to be King" was very out of tune at the beginning, and he was very emotionless. Nala had a very pop-like voice, that was quite distracting. Mufasa's "They Live in You" was uninspired, and not as powerful I would have liked to have heard. The emsemble was good - the best parts of the show were when they were singing without any of the leads on the stage.

Perhaps I just saw the show on an off night - anyone else have any good opinions about this production?

ooooh, same idea!

I saw it quite long before, last july. Simba was the only thing through whole musical. Nala couldn't make any impression through the whole show. the opening was quite cool. but not more than that.
Lion King is showing in Seoul,Korea in these days.. it was faaaaar more disappointing than the one in London.. (;ㅁWink

ps. Is there anyone have an idea that why "Romeo et Juliette" forum is not going on this site? (here is only for broadway?) well, I can't see any french musical in here.

hmm

I went to see it god a few years back and it was the most inspiring thing I had ever seen, I think it may have even been the original cast but it was amazing and I am sorry that the recent cast did not live up to the normal high standards.

The shows that were chosen to be on this site were ones that were running on Broadway (or London) or were popular at the time. You can start a post about any show on the Other Shows forum, though.

I saw it a few months ago and I agree with you. The young Simba I saw really wasn’t good, I liked the older one better. The night I saw there were a few understudies and all of them where good.
However one of my friends saw it a few weeks later and she really liked it.
