Lion King in ParisI have not read much here about the upcoming Paris production of "The Lion King". Opening is in october, and a video clip has been released, introducing the performers of Mufasa, Rafiki and Simba adult. You can find it on the official site of the French production located there :http://www.leroilion.fr/ The translation is (at least for that song) well done, sounds good and has a meaning, which made me very pleased for that was the thing which worried me most. And I already bought tickets |

I am so excited about this production mainly because I'll know most of the words. I actually like Il Vit En Toi. I need to buy tickets still but I am so there! Are they really going to have it only till the end of December? I mean it must cost them a fortune considering they have to get the sets there or build them and they already have people on payroll?

No the production is planned to stay one year - at least, that's what was told when they bought the Mogador theater. Costs must be really high, I recently walked near the Mogador, and everything inside the building was destroyed. They also built a pit of 10m above the stage. That's also why tickets cost so much |

Oh good. I was trying to figure out my schedule to get to France before the end of December because there is a show in CA that I wanted to see before I left. So is it a for sure thing that they will be there for at least a year? Also, they bought the theatre? Are they doing something like the New Amsterdam as far as fixing it up?

Yep, Stage Entertainment bought the theatre. I walked next to the theatre on Friday night, and some doors were open as they were still working (even if it was night and week end) ... it's hard to believe they are opening in September ! I am not sure about the length of the show as seats can only be bought until end of december 07. But obviously, judging by the high costs, the promotion that has slowly begun, it would be surprising to see the show closing after only a few months.
I guess there will be a recording. First, there have already recorded a single ("Il vit en toi"). And if they want to promote the show, they need a cast recording. Seats are very expensive, and musicals not popular in France. People need to know what this musical really is (I mean, not the Disney show like in Disneyland Paris), and recording is a good way to promote a show. Second, SE made a very good recording of the Paris Cabaret production. So it might be part of the marketing strategy for France. |

I'm thinking about getting all 3, but not sure i should get both the collector's CD and the regular CD if the regular CD has the same stuff, minus the DVD bits. |
||||

The "collector edition" is the regular CD + a DVD.
The single is included at the end of the "collector edition" CD. The single is a mix of the two song "he lives in you". It's song by Rafiki, Mufasa and Simba. Sébastien --------------- C'est « www.lerapportdumatin.com Tous les ragots, les potins... » sur Le Roi Lion à Paris en 2007 ! |

I am so excited to see the show! Ugh, only two weeks. Does anyone know about Stage Door-ing in France? Also, does someone have a list of items they are selling and their cost? lol I know that's a big request...just wondering. |

Yes, the videoclip of the single "Il vit en toi" was shooting in South Africa, in a little zulu village, near Johannesburg. Zama (Rafiki), Jee-L (Mufasa) and Jérémy (Simba) see the premiere of the show in Johannesburg and record the clip the 2 following days. http://www.lerapportdumatin.com/?p=121 Sébastien --------------- C'est « www.lerapportdumatin.com Tous les ragots, les potins... » sur Le Roi Lion à Paris en 2007 ! |
