Lindsay Lohan will be Broadway's next Evita!

Dear Musicals.Net Posters,

Lindsay Lohan is ready to be Evita on Broadway in 2005! She is looking forward to portraying the national diva of Argentina, and her fans believe that if she is on Broadway, her star will rise faster than ever before.

Cool

Broadway really is going down the hill with every year passing by...
and i feel so sorry for Evita...

ooh, is this like the post where Lindsay was going to be Belle? Anyway, I say Linds should just go for the gold and tackle Mamma Rose, Tevye, all the great roles! Even though she's like, what, 18..and not a man, lol.
Lucy Harris

Oh, lord, what's next? Ricky Martin as Marius? (Oh, wait, that already happened...) Twisted Evil
(Evan)

You guys, there aren't any Broadway plans for Evita. Dutchess is lying.

Wow...because we couldn't figure that out on our own...
GlamorousGriz

Even if there were plans for a revival, there is NO way she could play such a demanding role.

Clearly, some people couldn't.

In the UK we're waiting for the official announcement of Denise Van Outen as Eva though Confused
Amber

If this was true, I'd say that the casting director(s) had lost their minds. One, Eva is supposed to be how old? Not 18, that much I know.....And Lindsay Lohan? I can't picture her even being able to sing such a role....But I do hope they bring Evita back to Broadway soon....I'll travel the 90-some miles to go and see it!
Megan the Phantom Girlie

At least then she'd actually look like a teenager in the beginning. Rolling Eyes
Amber

Yes, Megan, but does that little tidbit outweigh the bad things that making Lindsay Lohan Broadway's next Evita would be?

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

Megan the Phantom Girlie

I was merely making the sarcastic comment that a lot of Evas look rather... OLD for 15!
Amber

I'm sorry if I sounded mean...I know what you meant. Sorry Embarassed

umm ...all anyone would have to do would be to listen to Lindsay Lohan's new song and you would know that there is no chance in hell her computer generated self would be an understudy for a chorus role.

But, I thought I read somewhere that EVITA had been on Broadway in 2001/2 with a new look or something. The article mentioned that it was a multi-media type show with video screens and such. I know I read something like that...

Anyway, I trust Evan on this one.

Andy.

No. It hasn't played on Broadway since the early 80s. And even if it HAD played in 2001/02, it still wouldn't change the fact that there are no plans for it to go back to Broadway.

*Is VERY slow* Ricky Martin played Marius? Since when has Bway sunk that low? This is like aftermath of the Braxton Belle Era.

I believe he was an understudy for Marius for the original Broadway cast of Les Miz. When the guy (on the OBC) left, he took over. I could be wrong...

Original Bway cast - before he became famous then. Well, tehn I'm okay with that. Wink

Um...no. He was Marius in 1995 or 97. He was not an understudy.

Okay, thanks Evan. You learn something new everyday.

I'm still laughing about this topic. The thought of Lindsay Lohan as one of the greatest female characters in musical, who I would so want to play if I was a female, makes me laugh really hard!!! Kind of scares me, too.
broadway06405

The sad truth is that replacements are more frequently cast for famous stars who will bring in more revenue.

Lindsey Lohan?? You're kidding me right!?!?!?!?!?

o gosh!
Megan the Phantom Girlie

Yeah, if Ricky Martin understudied the original cast, wouldn't he have had to have been barely Gavroche-sized?
urbanangel416

they cast some former backstreet boy as the phantom when ticket sales went down a couple of years ago. i really hate that. if you can't sing the role then you shouldn't play it.

Rolling Eyes Do you really think that pop and theater have always been separate? Many pop stars (and Hollywood actors, while we're on the topic) appear on Broadway.

Ricky...

Wow, people believe the rumors a whole year later?

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Anyway,

People, get your facts straight!

Ricky Martin played Marius on Broadway in the fall of 1996.

Contrary to popular belief, he didn't suck in the role.

He just stunk a little, LOL!

Poor thing, he was just so inexperienced in musical theatre but his earnest effort made him endearing to me. Well, at least from what I could hear...*coughaudiobootlegcough*
