Lily's eyesok, I know very little about this show, but have been asked to direct a concert and the song 'lily's eyes' is in it, just wandering if anyone could tell me what its about, hidden meanings, context or anything else which may help me get 'into' this song!
thanks heaps!

The song is Arhibald and his brother whose name I forget singing about Archie's niece who is new in the mansion they live in. She has the exact same eyes as Archie's deceased wife, Lily. Archie's brother also loved Lily, but she chose Archie.

Archibald was very much in love with his wife, Lily, who died either in childbirth or shortly afterward. She was full of life and he was older. When she died, part of him died, too, and he just wandered aimlessly, he was so sad.
In the meantime, his son, 10 years old, was pretty much bedridden, and he rarely saw him, partly because he reminded him of her. His brother Neville, a doctor, looks after the boy's health.
Then his sister, who lived in India dies, and her daughter Mary, also 10 years old, comes to England to live with him.
Whenever he looks at Mary, he sees Lily's eyes, and it is very painful for him. He sings the song, and his brother joins in, though they aren't aware of each other. The brother announces in the song that he also loved Lily, but she chose Archibald.

Well, he doesn't announce it...it's just revealed. They don't hold a press conference. Aside from that your explenation was much clearer.

CRAVEN:
Strangly quiet, but now the storm simply rests to strike again
Just before this scene starts, a horrible storm erupts, and this should speak for itself.
Standing, waiting I think of her, I think of her
This is about Lily, Neville's love who married his brother and later died.
ARCHIE:
Strange, this Mary, she leaves the room yet remains, she lingers on
Something stirs me to think of her, I think of her
Archibald is reminded of his late wife, Lily, as Mary is Lily's niece.
CRAVEN:
From death she casts her spell, as night we hear her sighs, and now a girl has come who has her eyes
This is another refrence to Mary, who has Lily's hazel eyes.
She has her eyes, the girl has Lily's hazel eyes, those eyes that saw him happy long ago. Those eyes that gave him life and hope he'd never known. How can he see the girl and miss those hazel eyes?
Neville explains how Lily gave Archie "life and hope he'd kever known"
ARCHIE:
She has her eyes. The girls has Lily's hazel eyes. Those eyes that closed and left me all alone. Those eyes I feel will never ever let me go. How can I see this girl who has her hazel eyes?
This should speak for itself.
In Lily's eyes a castle, this house seemed to be. And I her bravest knight became, my lady fair was she
Archie felt safe when Lily was around.
NEVILLE:
She her her eyes, she has my Lily's hazel eyes. Those eyes that loved my brother, never me. Those eyes that never saw me, never knew I longed to hold her close and live at last in Lily's eyes
This is sung angrily. Neville is mad that his brother took the love of his life.
The rest of the lyrics should be self-explanatory. Hope this helped!

Well you pretty much have the context of the song. This song is truly beautiful and one of my favorites. I am sure that it will be wonderful and that the audience will love it.
