Generally, how long is this show? The movie is only 1 1/2 hours, and that seems really short for a Broadway musical. It makes sense for schools and whatnot, but would people actually pay big money for an hour and a half of theatre?
Is there even an intermission?

That's really weird... you think that they would add more to the Broadway show than they did! I mean, there's not much more plot that you can add, but... I dunno! I'm no musical genius! lol

As for the money, it doesn't matter how long the performance is as long as you can make it worth what the people are paying. An outstanding production of a short show with awesome performers is worth much more than a crappy production of a long show whose cast is in way over their heads.
