Last Two Rows of the MezzHey all
It's looking like I'll be going to see Phantom this summer...my parents have wanted to see it since it came out, so I found out about the cheap seats in the back of the rear mezz for 30 bucks during the week or whatever. I was wondering if anyone had ever had those seats before...can you see everything from up there? Thanks!

Truth is, they're not that bad. I've sat in the last row of the mezzanine a few times and seen some great performances.
However, for a first timer, I'd really try to get the front mezzanine. It's close enough that you don't lose the facial expressions of the actors, but get to see the whole stage at a glance.
Also, slightly to the left is better than to the right for both orchestra and mezzanine.

In which country/theatre are you seeing Phantom?

It'll be New York.
I know the show like the back of my hand, I've just never seen it live. And I'll keep in mind slightly to the left....why is that?

It's apparently a female phenomenon that it is slightly better to sit slightly to the left. My mother is a hobby analyzer, as in analyzing people daily, and she has actually studied a lot on both the female and the male brain. Males tend to not care weather they sit slightly on the right or the left.
I don't know much more about it than that. And I apologize if any of the information is wrong.

I think it has more to do with what part of the stage has the most interesting action in POTO.
Sitting on the left will show you everything happening with the mirror scene and the organ, Raoul in the box etc. Sitting on the right will show you the FL kiss, Christine and Raoul during Masquerade, the mirror bride etc.
The brain theory might be correct, but when speaking about stage productions of POTO I personally see it as a practical thing. I prefer to sit to the left because of what details I want to see - but I don't mind sitting at the right side either.

Might be a female thing in general, but when it comes to POTO, it's definitely based on the show.
I've sat pretty much everywhere except the boxes at the Majestic and there are a few things that aren't seen as well from the right.
For example, I sat somewhat to the right in the center orchestra...about eight rows back. Very good seats in general except when it came to the kiss...all I could see was the back of Sandra Joseph's wig and a slight glimpse of Stephen Buntrock's hands. A few weeks later, I saw the show from the extreme left of the front mezzanine and only missed a tiny bit of Red Death's entrance during "Masquerade."
Other shows...probably because the sets and blocking were less elaborate...I've had no preference when it comes to left or right seats.
