Kiss Me Kate:Any Tom, Harry or...Innuendo?

Dear Musicals.Net Posters,

In the movie version of Kiss Me Kate, Ann Miller sings the song "Tom, Dick or Harry," and she's very suggestive about singing the song.

I'm curious to know if, when she sings, "...and I'll take double quick/ Any Tom, Dick or Harry/ Any Tom, Harry, or Dick!", there is any truly intended innuendo.

In other words, I'm curious to know if the name "Dick" illicited laughter during the 1950s in the same way by which it illicits laughter today.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Cole Porter filled hs songs with double entendre and innuendo...Tom Dick or Harry is just one of dozens.

my personal favorite is from Silk Stockings..

"But she knows 'cuase she has travelled miles
she can always Lay 'em in the eilses
if she's wearing silk and satin
she can flatten Lord Mountbatten!"
