King Sextimus Question

Okay, so I was just cast in my college production of OUAM as the King....is he as much as a pervert as he seems to be judging by the stage directions (mind you I've never seen this show or movie)...I know he is a very comedic part, but is he played with a sort of perverted twist?

Thank you
Salome

think Groucho Marx. not perverted but quite harmless letch.

The King is often actually be played as a quirky, but lovable character. The King likes the ladies, but can communicate with them only through gestures. He definitely has a roving eye because his wife, Agravain, is not his love anymore. She spends all her time intimidating her staff and doting on Prince Dauntless.

Because the King has to communicate only in gestures for the majority of the play, the King's part needs a really good ACTOR to work. There is lots of room for you to work with your director on these gestures to make the part come alive.
