Kim does not have to die?I remember reading an article, saying that Kim in the Manila production does not have to die! I wonder if it is only a mistake made due to my poor memory
Have anyone of you read something like that? Is it true? How will the relationship be between Kim, Chris and Ellen then?

Huh?
I'm assuming that must have been the writer of the article's view on Kim's motives for suicide.
I don't get the question though...

Isn't Kim's suicidal sacrifice kind of the point of the entire show? Hopefully the ending will never be changed, that would just be dumb and make the whole story meaningless.

Schönberg got the idea of Miss Saigon by a picture which showed a mother separated from her G.I. husband and her daughter. On that picture, the G.I. had no other wife, who said that "Hey, we can't take her with us!" but in Miss Saigon, Kim was not that lucky, Ellen existed and she would not take Tam with her, so it was a good sacrifice, if not the best sacrifice ever, a mother killing her self to her sons advantage, does there exist anything more emphasizing?
