Kerry's cape got caught!

Not sure of the date but I think this was only a few performances ago.

"It's not her! She has nothing to do with it! I'm the one you want! *gasp* *scream* Let me out!! NO WAIT!! STOPP!!!!!" *silence*

Shocked

What did the announcer say after it happened? I played it back about ten times and still couldn't make it out.
wicked_boy

OMG! She sounded really "desperate". Maybe she thought she would fall out the lift or something.

Was it her cape (as in the one Glinda gives her) that got stuck? What did it get stuck in?

"Ladies and gentlemen, we thank you for your patience. I am pleased to inform you this afternoons performance is now able to commence. Thank you"

I think.

You can hear see sounds uneasy when she first starts speaking and then she gasps and screams when she realises her cape is caught.
It's the cape Glinda gives her. It got caught in the lift and if she went up she would have probably been dragged out.
wicked_boy

WOW! Shocked

I'm glad nothing too bad happened.

Was anyone from here actually at that performance?
Joshua

She sounded rather desperate, poor thing. I feel bad when things like that happen. I can imagine the terror. Maybe she was even being choked?
Sweeney Hyde

...it made me laugh out loud...
BroadwayObssessed

That's sort of scarey...atleast...it is when she screamed.

I know!
Can you imagine if you were in a machine that you have no control over, then you started to lift off the ground while the cape around your neck is stuck to something below?? HILARIOUS!
Felix Felicis

Very brave of her to stop the show right then and there, I think.
And probably the best performance she's done of that song, afterwards.
Kerry_ROCKS!

kerry

t was about 2 weeks ago : D
Felix Felicis

I think I just have to say, I completely disapprove of that particular audio being posted on YouTube - I think Kerry should be respected enough not to have a disturbing incident like that plastered over the internet.
Kerry_ROCKS!

sfs

Agreed.
musikal_geek

I thought it was interesting. I don't think she should be offended by it by any means.
Dean101

arg.... the video is not there anymore... anyone has it?

26th March Wednesday Matinee. She sounds really scared on the recording. I'm glad it's been taken off youtube, it's horrible to hear her so frightened. The performance she gave afterwards however was spectacular!
niels.erling

UUH! I Was there!! It was horrible - I was so ---- frightened when it happened!

I sat in the front row and when it happened, the curtain fell down and the entire theatre was silent in schock.. It was horrible to see, I'm so glad nothing happened...

Anyone wishing to hear the audio:

I have to say, the absolute fear in her voice seriously gave me goosebumps. And I really do applaud her for going out and performing after such a scare.

Quick question to those who were there: The second time she came out to sing, did she perform on the lift? Or on the ground? From what I've heard, all the kick-ass Defying Gravities have happened when the lift wasn't properly working...and her's is no exception.

Thanks ahead.
Quique

Based on the way you all have been talking about it, I was expecting a blood curdling scream of terror, or something. And some of the YouTube comments are over the top...shaking and crying? LOL. Oh, come now. Laughing
^Defying_Gravity^

Poor her! It was an amazing performance afterwards, bit like Idina when the lift didn't work. It must be hard to have to stop the show at a crucial moment like that.

She stood on the ground on the stage in smoke with the ensemble standing around her.. It was flawless, as you can hear in the recording, but still a bit anti-climatic and awkward, as it seemed none of the castmembers knew what to do or where to look.

It was my fourth time seeing Wicked, so I just think of it as something extra to have seen, but for first-timers a thing like this really just breakes the illusion...

Anyway, it was definitely not Kerry's fault and I think she handled it very, very well...
Anno_Domini

Ugh, I don't think I want to listen to the audio. That's supposed to be the show's BIG moment, and to have something so horrible occur at that point...*shudders* I feel so bad for Kerry

Wicked may not be the best show, by any means, but who the hell cares? Those types of moments are the stuff of nightmares

Even if you don't like the show, it's extremely rude to say it's funny. Oh well. Good old polite Salome for ya.

Oh yes, an actress almost getting killed on stage and having to halt a performance because of it.....f***ing hilarious.

Jesus Christ, Salome. We get that you loathe the show (I'm certainly no avid fan of it myself), but that was simply a repulsive thing to say.

To put it bluntly: piss off

I disagree. If she almost got killed, this would be way bigger news. Saying that she was almost killed is quite the over-exaggeration.

this, I agree with. It wasn't as serious as you make it sound, Anno_Domini, but saying that an actor getting hurt onstage is just rude, no matter what the show is.

Just my two cents.
Nightwish

I just listened to it, and at first I really couldn't tell what was and what wasn't part of the show...

It must have been scary, but at least she handled it well.

You've never heard of spell-check? One would think you're a 10 year-old.
Salome

blue carded.
wicked_boy

Hmmmm.

This is getting personal.

Come on guys, it's Salome, we all know she hates Wicked... and that's we love her.

However, Salome, it was a bit rude to say that something dreadful happening to someone is funny.
Salome

Like I said people have accidents on stage all the time. geet the blooper reels out.
wicked_boy

My favourite blooper...

Go on youtube and type in "Wicked Bed Mishap".

Kristin's bed didn't come onstage for "Popular". Too funny!
TheDamageIsUnlimited

The last time I saw Wicked, in London, Glinda tripped and fell flet on her face in the cornfield scene =/ haha
wicked_boy

I love bloopers!
music is my life!!!

i love them too, just not ones that could be mega dangerous...
