What Is This Feeling?

Katy Perry...

Well what do you guys think thumbs up or down?
fjays

Oh, she's pretty good.

But I must admit, I have heard I Kissed a Girl on the radio FAR too many times...
Mungojerrie_rt

"Who the hell is she?" Confused
qpidsangel

I like her "I Kissed A Girl" but has she done anything else?
What Is This Feeling?

Yup, her 1st song. Not nearly as popular, too controversial. She got some backlash. Ur so gay. But Madonna certainly approved.

Bookworm

She's okay but I can't stand hearing "Kissed A Girl" 59 times in a row.
elizabethjaneforrest

Awful, talentless homophobe.
mizzie

I Kissed A Girl may be the most hummable song since Sexyback.

As for Katy Perry...

SMART.

and...

RICH.
star2ballie

I don't think she's a homophobe?

I think she's rad. Her music is great fun dance pop that we haven't had in a while.

My favorite song of hers (IMO way better than I Kissed a Girl or UR so Gay): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utxWFknBG9k download it if you want a freaking sweet summer song. or driving song. i listen to it with my sunroof open on the way to work all the time.

Er, how is she a homophobe? The song is forgettable, but I don't recall anything in there that bashed gays.
jackissensational

She sounds like Pink and looks like Zoey Dechanel. She's just a... "whatever" to me. I don't not like her, but I don't like her.
Salome

Zoey is alot prettier
shakalakababy

heh i've only heard i kissed a girl but i do like that song, even though it is over played. But it's catchy and fun to dance to.

What did you vote for?
reedzee

She's doing something right.
wicked_boy

Oooh.

I didn't know who she was.

I know the song "Kissed A Girl", it's all that's ever played on the radio these days.

"I kissed a girl, and I liked it, something something red lip gloss something something, was so wrong, but right."

Is that how it goes?
Trevor reincarnate

I LOVE HER!!!
Bianca.

I love her.

Not just that. Try her whole album. It's fuc.king amazing. I LOVE that woman.

You all need to give her whole album a listen before calling her a "talentless homophobe".

Watch this video for her song (best on the album, IMO), Thinking of You.

candymancan

I hate the radio right now, it pretty much only plays her I kissed a Girl song because it is so controversial and so more people listen to the radio and junk. It is already a freaking old song. I thought it was pretty decent the first few times I heard it but now it is just ridiculous! I know you kissed a girl so have Billions of others why are we hearing your story over and over?!?!?!

/rant
Jelliclaw

Voted "Hate her".

And I think "I Kissed a Girl" is tied with "Sexyback" as the world's most obnoxious song.
Joshua

Ahem.

My steaming hatred for "I Kissed a Girl" and the associated mindset is enough to make me leave the room whenever that song is played.

Amen Joshua.

I think she's quirky, cute, and I really like her music =D

Don't let one overplayed song ruin her whole album for you.

Quique

She (and her record company) tries too hard. What's next? [mod edit] please keep the commentary clean
Annie

Bought a cherry Chapstick today.......can't get it out of my head!!!!!

The lyrics in Ur So Gay are actually really smart and clever. I wouldn't have thought, I like it more than I Kissed A Girl.

He met her at the Warped Tour 08 here in San Diego yesterday.

Using "gay" as an insult is homophobic, ignorant behavior and isn't amusing. I've seen her live performances, and I'd hardly consider her awkward, moaning voice singing.

I have to hand it to her record company. She's brilliantly marketed. But do your research on her. This isn't her debut album. She was a Christian singer long before this little "Omg, I kissed a girl and I'm totally straight isn't that so weird?!?" stunt came along.
Mungojerrie_rt

I remember hearing about a Christian singer who then made a very non-Christian song. Now I know who.
wicked_boy

Has she ever kissed a girl?
elizabethjaneforrest

wicked_boy wrote:

There's photographic evidence of her kissing a girl, yet now she's pretending she hasn't, playing coy and claiming the she's a good girl, as if there's something actually scandalous about someone actually kissing someone of the same sex.

Link to her very obnoxious interview.

If any of you honestly consider her an "artist", I urge you to think this over.
<3Wilson<3

I love her. Her music is catchy and quirky.
Plus her personal style is wonderful.
sopranoopianoo

A.) She's gorgeous (I would love to see her do a vintage/pinup photoshoot-- she has the PERFECT look for it...)

B.) She's stylish

C.) She DOES have a great voice! Even if "I Kissed a Girl" is over played... her other songs show that she does have a great voice. I'd personally love to hear some more anna nalick/norah jones/ingrid michaelson-esque songs come out of her... that would be amazing.

D.) Her songs are extremely catchy... you can't help but sing along and want to move your feet.

E.) I wish I was her.

Very Happy

I think a lot of you appear to be mistaking trendy for stylish. Stylish ensembles usually withstand the test of time. Audrey Hepburn, for example, was stylish. Grace Kelly was stylish. Cate Blanchett is stylish. Classy ladies.

The above will not stand the test of time. I guarantee you that in five years, you will be looking back at this girl and saying, "Dear Lord, she looks ridiculous." Same with leggings, skinny jeans, and the heinous cowboy boot trend of 2005.
Trevor reincarnate

What did she ever do to you?
<3Wilson<3

Wow you have some inner hate for the poor girl.
As for style, it doesn't need to withstand the test of time, blah blah blah. Style will change, no one said that she has a style that will withstand the passage of time. You can have style whether it is relevant now or ten years from now.
Joshua

Elizabeth you are making yourself look like a dick.

And UR So Gay is not a gay-bashing song. It's just a clever little song about how metro her boyfriend (in the song, I guess) is without actually liking guys. Sheesh. Read the lyrics.

No, stylish is iconic. It doesn't have to be "classy". Yes, Audrey Hepburn & Grace Kelly were very stylish... but so is Madonna. Madonna, is iconic, but her style of dress has not been "conventional." And I love the skirt that Katy is wearing anyway...
le_moofin

^ I pretty much agree.

Applause
elizabethjaneforrest

I'm simply offering the other opinion, which by the way, I'm entitled to. I don't expect you to agree with me. One of the options on this poll was, in fact, the option to hate Katy Perry. I'm simply stating why I feel that way.
